About
Rachel-Mari Ackermann is a fine artist, illustrator, and graphic designer with a background spanning fine art, publishing, and visual communication.
Education and Early Career
She studied at the Vaal Triangle School of Technology (formerly Vaal Triangle Technicon), where she earned a National Diploma in Fine Arts in 1993.
Her graphic design career began in 1996 at Christian Art Publishers (CUM Books), where she worked as a graphic designer and illustrator. Over the years, she has contributed to a wide range of design and communication studios and completed projects for clients including Goldwell, Jenna Clifford, Randgold, Randgold Resources, Foodcorp, City Power, Eskom, AIG, IFC, SYSMEX SA, the SA Post Office, Live the Journey, House of Marshall and the SA Museums Association.
Career Highlights
In 2001, she illustrated her first postage stamps for the SA Post Office. In 2010, she joined the SA Post Office’s Philatelic Services team as a graphic design artist, where she created and art-directed numerous stamp issues and other in-house design projects.
Creative Projects and Ministry
In her personal creative work, she enjoys writing, illustrating, and animating Christian-based children’s stories. She is also the self-published author of the Christian children’s book series Woolly’s Stories.
In October 2020, she founded Creatio Media & Design to pursue her passion for sharing the message of hope in Jesus Christ with children and adults around the world. She describes herself as a seed sower, planting His truth and love in the hearts of others.
